Since the Russian military invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, there have been signs of hope for the Ukrainians in the past month with the counter-offensive proving to be rapid as significant progress has been made.
As of the 13th of September, according to Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, it is believed that since the start of the counteroffensive this month, Ukrainian forces have recaptured approximately 6000 km square of land. Since last Tuesday, Russian troops have been out of the territory west of the Oskil River.
According to the Kremlin, Russia believes they will achieve all of its aims in Ukraine with the direct response to the counteroffensive being ‘the military operation continues’, as well as several missile strikes being sent on Sunday which caused approximately tens of thousands to have no electricity and water.
