Last Friday, the $1.75 trillion Build Back Better Act (BBB) was narrowly passed in the House. The bill will make its way up to the Senate for deliberation after Thanksgiving recess and is expected to be revised.

The BBB act includes provisions that would extend the child tax credit for another year, cover four weeks of paid leave, create a universal pre-k program, expand healthcare coverage and affordability, and invest in climate measures such as cleaning up pollution and building green infrastructure.

This bill, like the recently enacted bipartisan infrastructure bill, is a part of President Biden’s Build Back Better framework, aimed at rebuilding the middle class of America. The bill is planned to be paid for by raising taxes on high-income earners and corporations and by eliminating tax loopholes.
