On Tuesday, December 6th, incumbent Raphael Warnock defeated Republican Herschel Walker in the Georgia runoff election for the US Senate, after neither of the candidates surpassed the 50% votes needed to win in the November election.
The win secured Democrats a slim 51-49 margin in the Senate, which gives them a substantial advantage over Republicans, as Democrats would now have control over committees and be able to pass legislation and nominations more quickly by not needing to rely on Vice President Harris to be the tie-breaking vote in a 50-50 court.
