The Russian occupation in Ukraine rages on as air strikes continue, injuring and killing citizens of Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has asked for assistance from its allies, including the UK.
UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace has confirmed that the country will send helicopters with crews trained in the UK to maintain and fly the aircraft, providing aid and support as well as rescue capabilities. Wallace also confirmed that the UK would be sending and additional 10,000 artillery rounds, which would help the Ukrainian armed forces secure recently-liberated territory.
In order to show British support, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak visited Kyiv to meet with Zelenskyy to set out a new £50m package of defence aid, including 125 anti-aircraft guns and drones in order to counter Iranian-supplied drones to help Ukraine uphold their land. As winter approaches, the UK are also sending Ukrainian troops winter equipment, such as sleeping bags, heated accommodation and cold-weather clothing.
