This Tuesday, former president Donald Trump announced in a comparatively subdued speech that he is running for the Republican presidential nomination in the next presidential election in 2024.
To allies, advisors, and influential conservatives, Trump stated, "In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States" at his Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago, which was recently involved in a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) search. He also conveyed inflated claims about the accomplishments during his term and what has been accomplished thus far in President Joe Biden's term. "This will not be my campaign," he said. "This will be our campaign all together."
Trump's highly anticipated statement is expected to be followed by conservative and moderate Republicans. Regardless of his legislative spotlights, impeachments, and the devastating events of January 6, Republican voters have a deep loyalty to the former president. Donald Trump will become the second commander-in-chief to be elected to two non-consecutive terms if he wins.
